~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    she arranged her own vibrant costumes
                    along with her mélange
               of softly brushed make-up
       delicately tuned eyebrows
                        and rosy cheeks
      complementing a façade of smooth form
                      and aesthetic articulation
              of movement and affect
                          she rose above falling stars
              across an horizon of stellar audience
                              such an intense,
                                      charming character
                 her temperament moved
                           even the most contemptuous critics
                    she lived and died
                                 in a wealth of fabulous theaters
                 and choreographed dream scenes
          where star doors
                         open only to a special few
Moving in celestial rather than temporal circles seems to be the hallmark of those who are "set apart", perhaps. Some are just born with an extra-special aura, I think, which cannot be earned or learned, leaving all the rest in the shade. Fame is indeed fickle, yet to be truly celebrated defies both fashion and time. Your "stars" are always beautifully graced with both poise and intelligence; creativity and originality. They are dancers who lead by example and captivate with their esprit and motion. Theirs is an extra-terrestrial existance and this is a fabulous poem for me to seek to purloin having just moved into an apartment on the banks of the Thames not 150 yards from the house where Gustav Holst first sketched scenes for his Planets Suite: maybe it was the Lady in his life that inspired them! :)) Feliz Ano Nuevo, Amigo! I marvel at your flow, the aftermath of which is a cheerful, floaty feeling!
Jude,
Nicely done, Bravo!!! I feel honored by this poem because I am the one of those designers that make those stars look beautiful and memorable. Hope you had a great Christmas. I have been consumed with family and work for the past few days...sorry to have missed this wonderful poem.
Much peace, light and love,
Amber
This reminds me of the immortal Marilyn, her legend lives far beyond her years and I think that she would be a star not only in life, but also in death; a glimmering light shining down for all eternity. Beautiful words form bigger than life images in this wonderful offering. Merry Christmas and the happiest of New years.
Take care,
Sherry
...only a few souls seem to qualify for this meritorious tribute... Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Jo Ann Sayers, Cayle Chernin, or Rose Burton, to name a few...
Maybe I missed a recent death, but the poem is a sure-fire different take, but one that is more personal than what is usually read about a star's death. Last two lines, dynamite.
