~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
             without anything to say,
  I was bursting with thoughts to speak
 so I took refuge
                       scripting my words
     on the soundstage of my dreams
 where no one
                     would hear what I was thinking
 great, an orator articulating silent verses
      is like an opera singer without coloratura
                   I couldn’t speak,
but dreams have a that fabric of air to them,
       you’re never full of it
                  I wanted to speak to anyone
         but I couldn’t express myself
    because my dream was restraining me
                 but no one was listening anyway
                   thankfully, I began to awake
         next to a long pillar
                          in-between two peaks
                       my lips unsealed
                       holding in my palm
             everything I really needed to say
                                   hmmm ….
... your minor changes make this much clearer to my way of thinking: wasn't it "columns" insted of "peaks" to start with? That creates a play on the title: dreams peak(s), which therefore ties the thoughts together. Like Roger, I love the daliance with classicism or the scriptural, standing at the Pillar of Address and speaking, as it were, to each of your "mountains" in turn. And, after all this perceived "bottling up", I like that you could hold in your palm the sum total of all that you wanted/needed to say: for if God only needed 4 words to create each day, why need we more?! Hmmmm... on second thoughts, elaboration is good. Glad you got this off your chest, Amigo; seems like being caught between a rock and a hard place, otherwise! :)) xx
If I had to live by the old rule that says engage brain before opening mouth I'd be a lot quieter than I am, and I'm pretty quiet. My synapses run at a snail's pace so I'm far better off writing than speaking even if somebody is listening. I liked this one. Patrick
I love all the comments, the reviews, the coloratura, and your climactic expressions, you forment a torrent of silent absolutions, a masterful expression, of what's near and dear to you in your private virtual reality, as always, good to the last drop.
Bless you, Jasmin Horst
Unable to elaborate but still a climactic ending.
What better place is there to voice our chosen words but in our dreams, our safe haven, our own nirvana. Sometimes if you dream it, it can become reality, it is all in what you perceive it in order to receive it. wow a poetry rhyme..lol
anyway, as always, thought provoking words from the master poet!
Dream a little dream of .....whatever you feel you need to say, hear or touch. Reach out and let someone hear your splendid voice, saying what you really need to say to them, it can be quite a lift of a burden that one may feel is holding them back.
Dreamscape away!!
Peace, light, and love,
Amber
" without anything to say,
Such be an irony that silence is golden,
but perhaps just a few words from a poet
will do!! Seeing You *Jude*
Still cookin' with fire here Bob, always do I enjoy to read your verbal diatribes & though they may not be thunderous, they certainly reach each of us that read them...hope you're staying warm up there north of NJ...;-)e
What rich imagery you leave the reader with!
I have trouble with words myself, both in dreams and out of them, as words communicate only so partially what I want to express.
Blessings,
Christine
Dreams often lead to one's ability to share what they need to share in order to heal. Sometimes it is not the words that are important but the need to share, even if we don't know what we are sharing :-)
in other words I hear you :-) without words spoken.........
Sometimes it is a clarity that fades to indifference, once we awaken. I could feel that sense of frustration that happens in dreams when we cannot completely control the situation. Very nice, Jude.
Take care,
Yep, thank for the new word from the swamps of Louisiana. Dreams can befuddle and exasperate the most sane person. but they are particularly evil to poets I have found out. This poem goes a long way in proving my point. Coloratura. Gotta love it . . .
ahh the proverbial rhetor's dream: how to select from the panoply of... the plethora of... the panagyrics... the fluent foray into... ohhh... it's on the tip of my tongue... if only dreams could speak!?
Seriously, though, I like the classical nod in your closing.
You say it after the fact, so to speak. Thanks for the new word, coloratura. I must say that I am, “full of it.” Every once in a while. It helps to speak, or write it out to get rid of it.
