... they need to tune in to the vibrato of each other's souls, right?! The "magic" of your work is that it always has the ability to take us some place other than the "action" of the piece itself; in this instance, it made me realise that, having experienced a childhood that had a lot of actual day-to-day madness in it, I was actually consequently frozen in my emotions, a very passive and self-controlled little person. I probably didn't scream enough... not AT anyone, you understand, but just to let it all out! THAT would have been a kind of serenade to the child within. Perhaps you can relate. Anyways, Kartero, thanks for opening my mouth! :)) xx The sweet old boy at my residential workshop on Tuesday, apart from "serenading" me with his sweet beckons and soft, cooing whispers, was also alternately prone to sudden violent outbursts, as if articulating pain from his deepest past. “Come on everybody, scream and shout” (the Beatles). I think you may be onto something here. I'm pretty mild tempered and rarely raise my voice. Unfortunately, when I do, it's because I feel that I'm not heard. So I speak louder and louder until it becomes what some people might say is a scream.

I see people screaming in their poetry here–screaming for help. A poem can easily become a song, like, “help I need somebody… I need somebody to love… (The Beatles).

We have this problem of yelling at each other instead of trying to listen to what they have to say. Children have an excuse...they have no experience. We adults have no excuse. Before a serenade can be sung, at least one party must stop shouting and start singing, no???

Whispers are louder and appeal to the ear~ a serenade is delightful, I cringe every time I see an adult yell at a child in a store etc...I so want to pick up the child and comfort them~

Hey Jude,
I hear you here...I have first hand experience with my grandson and my son, sometimes my son thinks if he yells louder Kason will listen..wrong...He's learning, soon they definitely will be singing a serenade when little Jude is able to sing, he already hums to his Nonni and tries to sing La La La, adorable.. Love this light poem that sends life's lessons to us.
