he believes he’s the real deal

you know, a dreamer only in his own mind

many a bystander eats up his shenanigans

many a fantasist falls far into his wits

strolling his wares across a lonely avenue

like a pimp he hides his face behind the scenes

selling his ideals to any a buyer

but only giving a taste of his corrupted themes

What? Oh, man, Jude, didn't know this was you when I read. Love the title, not so much the blather, seems too much like myself/ourselves. I'm tired of this situation. Want to burst out, let's do it! Run with fun and laughter and sun, son, some. So what? It still can be done!

You are always the one to confront our duplicities, our light and our dark and our shadows, Jude. The Yin and Yang of life is portrayed perhaps as black and white but, in reality, we are all overlaps of grey. As a character study, I would say this is a good contrapuntal to your "unrighteous" in that this persona knows himself to be manipulative and deceitful in the "corrupted wares" that he is peddling whilst preying upon others' enthusiastic gullibility. That that then makes him "the real deal" is a scathing and cynical slight on other people's sense of truth and goodness. I once heard a "misanthropist" say that he thought people were generally so stupid he felt compelled to either help them or rip them off! Perhaps there's a shade of that here in this character's general attitude. Another succinct and astute social observation. xx

Once again you've reminded me of our millionaire politicians, wheeling, dealing, and scheming; yet so many seem to believe them.

There are many like this, I believe. I think we all wear "masks" but some of us hide a nastier side. Thank you, Jude. Love and peace,

I often wonder if any one of us truly "knows", the "real deal."
We are all dreamers in our own mind, no? Why is it, this one, can even attract a bystander? How does the bystander shine, here? Who calls them, "shenanigans?" And, How does one contend who deems anyone even being "fantastic?" Why are the avenues so lonely? Many a question can pop up here, on either angle! The dirt can only be walked upon, and they will create paths, as far as the eye can see, for mankind is, of it! Dream the good dreams and shy not! Take the path un-footed, trailing right behing the Almighty blazer, and ye shall pen in colors seen only by our immortal souls. . .
You inspire me so with this, Jude, as always~
Love and Peace~

Like a politician on a downtown mission, selling dreams of what others want to hear, strictly for his own amusement, certain that all are there because of his amazing dynamic and unquestionable charms. Alas, he is but a Don Quixote hiding from the mirror, misunderstanding himself, living within the realm of his falsely conceived opportunities. I really like this one, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry

it's a good thing the cat has nine lives, 'cause facing the music means the 'mews rues' may rise to the bait and misconstrue such vagaries while the real ruse muse exits in media res with the word-tightrope "themes" on his lips... (and judging by the ironically named Ms. Sweetwater's bile passing for comments below, we may well be in need of an R-rated 'comment' section in this room...) ... I wonder how many will get the point (he pondered pointedly)...

Be at peace with all... or at least those here now...
