~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’m sitting by a desk embroidered with books,
             sheets of paper, pencils,
    a box of unknown contents
and a computer screen
          flashing
                  a matrix screensaver
I see myself staring out the window
              rubbing my eyes from lack of sleep
         while laughing
                                that I’m dreaming
   so I must be sleeping
                        so what am I really tired of?
        tired of staring out the window
 dreaming I must awaken
You must be sleepin like a log! Reminds me of that Evanescence lyric again, "Wake me up inside", feeling the need to awake to the dream and dream to awaken. Open wide the window and breathe the night air: first star to the left and straight on 'til morning, Peter. On second thoughts, a day spent with a famous old British poet should fix it!! :)) xx
What is really best Jude, dreams or reality and can we tell the difference between a dreaming and awake?
It is possible to have all of the emotions in dreams that we have when awake. To be tired of a common situation is no different than dreaming about anything else that we spend a lot of time doing when awake. The message would be to start spending time doing something else, like reading a good book to take you to a different place when awake so that perhaps your imagination will be more active in your dreams. I get tired of remembering and trying to understand my dreams, sometimes. Maybe that is part of your tired situation.
Take care,
Sherry
Apart from the words I really like the shape and pattern of this poem, and I particularly like the line "I'm sitting by a desk embroidered by books....
Quite philosophical...Enjoyed thinking about this one!
I get delirious from lack of sleep and laugh at almost anything! :D Sounds to me like you need some rest, get outdoors and change your screensaver ;)
Hey Jude,
wow, I was almost thinking that your poem was a vision of what is to come. Perhaps the window reflects (no pun intended) your own inner being trying to escape from a stagnant lifestyle or perhaps you just are seeing the world from a different vantage and eminent change is in the near future. I am a bit rusty with interpretation of dreams, I used to do it as a side living back in the 80's..lol
Anyway, you need more exercise and more mental stimulation so that when you go to sleep, you stay asleep...I am having this same issue myself.. It must be spring fever...
Lovely work as always,
Much peace, light and love,
Amber
Staring out the window... perhaps dreaming of a different world... a different time? I do this often because the world I see becomes more and more a place I don't want to be a part of. Perhaps we still have a few more years of good times? Ah, there-in lies the question we all seek an answer to. I always enjoy your font and your poetry.
Why was I falling asleep while reading this? Must be the same reasons. I think I'll go to the window now and look out and awaken to a new world.
I'm tired of wandering our sad old world, seeing too many sad sights; yet, I wander on.
Staring out a window for long periods mean you are wistful and bored. Go take a walk, let others stare at you out their windows of boredom as you jump up and click your heels.
