~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
at first, I couldn’t imagine what went down
forcing her to leap from view
stumbling, tumbling into the stream downhill
one minute she was invincible, relentless
then suddenly her breath
was a mist of broken words
spilling incoherently like a babbling brook
down a slippery waterfall
you could hear her shouting in the distance
spouting out images and metaphors
that didn’t seem fit the decorum
utterances of time and space
murmurs of life and love
she was swimming
above her dreams
treading outside her parameters
and for the moment, she just wanted to be alone
within the growing ripples
only she could supply or relinquish
I'm somewhat mystified by the last lines.
"and for the moment, she just wanted to be alone
within the growing ripples
only she could supply or relinquish"
Does she drawn? Sorry, I may be too literal to understand.
Wonderful energy and natural flow to this, Jude, and the voicing is sublime: so rested and calm in perfect counterbalance to the frenetic emotional and physical activity of the subject - and the 'fall' at the end is a clincher. A self-reflexive mirror-write, where two parts of self (or together with a close other) are so intimately acquainted and mutually aware as to be able to fully comprehend even metaphoric meaning in the details of life. Within such symbioses, which is cause and which is effect is often blurred. A really nice bit of Forese pro(active)(en)visioning. Reminds me of a situation here in K-Bay a couple of days ago that I was relating to the grandparents (at about the time you posted this, as it happens!) in which the winds were so severe that they were causing the waters falling down the cliff-face to blow straight back upwards again, creating a very surreal sight. Another goody from your stock-take of dreams. Merry Mistletoe Bronx-style as always, Senor :) xx
very imaginative and memorable..."she was swimming above her dreams" is quite expressive. I'm left to wonder - thoughts of self, imagination, or a distant lover? excellent write.
Hey Jude,
Reading this poem for the third time grasping at your title knowing that our journeys are so entangled in deeply rooted memories that my mind brings me to another poem you wrote not to long ago "Golden Gondola". A recitation of this poem is much needed!
I can only say that I am deeply touched by "provision" as I was with Golden Gondola.
Sometimes one's journey does have splendid surprises!
I hope you had a very beautiful Christmas!
Peace and light and love
Caught within an eddy of her own illusions she struggles to find her way amid her dreams and disillusions. I could feel my head becoming dizzy as I got caught up in the motion of your lines. Merry Christmas, Jude.
Take care,
Sherry
At first I thought it was an unkind remembrance, but then I saw the metaphorical drowning as the loss of her love and realized, once again, your flair for fine poetry.
Ahhh . . . Reaching for that elusive dream is fraught with difficulty most of the time. But to be herself, to be the one in charge, was her goal, and so she continued on . . .
