fit of a cracked bard

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
angry, vexed,
housed in a muddled barbican
hurling pompous prosaicisms
and poetic grunts
only reaching the ears of a broken
mirror dangling from his living room wall
drunken yowls condemning the world
for denying his acumen
fancying only he can free the image
unfolding the folly of this world
the folly of a warped reflection
he unconsciously emulates
hurling misguided spells from his guts
heaving misnomers from his raging lips
no silver lining on the clouds of his splintered dreams
only spilt black ink sliding across a broken table
Sounds like my own reflection in the mirror at times. Hate to admit it "drunken yowls condemning the world for denying his acumen " that has been me many times. Like I said hate to admit it but it's true. Part of me I do not like. Thank you this deep reflection.
there's nothing better than being angry, feels awesome, letting off all that steam, and if you can pour it on paper all the better, except anger is dangerous it alienates, particularly if your wrong about your convictions, ends up leaving you the empty one. the mirror-less soul, a dangerous weapon indeed.
Yes, I have met that poet and he resides somewhere in the heart of the matter. I hope we don't honor him for his suffering, but only his brilliance.
Moods in motion aplenty in this one, Kartero. A creative psyche is riddled with the contradiction of a two-headed ego which we seek, perhaps, to both encourage and to tame: reason - or, on a dark day, hubris - being the ring/taskmaster with the top hat and whip in between. Keeping both 'heads' in balance or in check is as difficult often as controlling a listing ship once the holistic sense of self has become shattered, but perhaps these are but the labour pains of true individual genius freeing itself from the shackles of being mindful of anything other than its own sense of creative purpose and modus vivendi. Adroitly spilt and splintered, Senor. xx
Very effective, Jude. For some reason, your poem brings to mind someone here at the Den. Happy New Year to you with best wishes of all that is good.
I would frame this piece, if it were mine, dangle it from hook upon a stuccoed wall, well positioned to reflect this, the vision of my avenging eyes.
And how the rant self-serving makes for pretty words in our own minds. A delicate knife you slide between my ribs. M.True
You are indeed a fit bard, original and creative.
Away from the center where the good stuff waits to be tapped.
I think many a bard has felt those feelings,
Some stop writing, and some continue on.
