the haven grows old and complacent
its signature look long gone
its colorful parade fading with time and neglect
its peppy origin reduced to incompetent dribble
such transformations
rundown the surrounding terrain
some even decompose by their own will
impotent and indifferent
to the muse and stimuli of their own synapses
they are like a prisoner tortured
for speaking out loud
so there’s no will to dream anymore
only mumble
and fumble the touchdown
and spill the chalice of creative verve
now whooshing away by interception
the paradise has lost its charm, its internal hum
it is more like a snore from the depths of universal breath
its youthful imagination crushed like a starving carnation
in the palms of its fortune
it lays barren and barely awake
everything is drying out in monochrome
excited by an occasional bud of thought
by the window
sporadically turning blue
its dreams are no longer a blessing
its eyes forever fall asleep
excited by an occasional bud of thought
by the window
sporadically turning blue
... I guess it's these fascinating lines (among many) that have prompted me to post my 'desert' write now. Another one that needs to be heard (recited) in order to fully appreciate your intended nuances of emphasis and meaning. Much beauty in your expressions of apathy, decomposition and stifling here. A sad scenario indeed since creativity is the birthplace of life itself. xx
The chalis of creative verve is yours to behold.

I'm only going to nitpick two things: first I think it would be better instead of saying "parade" to say façade. Secondly, you use the word synapse quite often. I'm not sure what the dictionary says, but from courses and seminars I took on the brain over 45 years ago and the most recent National Geographic describing the brain, the synapse is a space between the axon of a brain neuron and the dendrite of another brain neuron. I would equate the empty space (probably filled with fluid) as being meaningless in terms of human memory or human function. The neurons contain all of that and transmit proteins called neurotransmitters across the spaces or synapses as a way of communicating.
The geographic article shows that recent studies of mouse brains is revealing a grid like pattern that seems to confirm Karl Pribrim's holographic theory of memory where our memory resides in holographic patterns on the billions of neurons through chemical patterns imposed on the grid.
Just like earlier brain engineers thought that lobotomies would be helpful, I find the word synapse being used for all sorts of brain related activity. But then, as a poet, you have license to use the word anyway you want. ;-)

Wow! Such an intense write. So many thoughts swirl around in my mind as I read this work of art.
These lines for me are a pivotal moment in this poem:
and fumble the touchdown
and spill the chalice of creative verve
now whooshing away by interception
the paradise has lost its charm, its internal hum
it is more like a snore from the depths of universal breath
So impacting and your word chose is impeccable!
Love the line from the depth of universal breath. wonderful!!!!
Much peace, light and love,
