~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
what if the news suddenly reported
I was blown up in some bodega?
circa anytime, where?
tomorrow?
alert … alert … just happened
blown into magnificent
insignificant little pieces
perhaps somewhere downtown NYC
uncontrolled gas leak
perhaps somewhere midtown east side
UN building?
would people say, I was a kind man?
would they say I was quiet
and to myself?
would they say I was sociable,
a thought-provoking shadow?
would I nod my head “hello”
when we passed each other by?
did you think the lady across the street
had the hots for me?
or she never noticed me at all?
do you remember
what I said when you last saw me?
probably nothing
but who really cares?
i'm just a reporter, you know
Interesting change of last line, I think. Yes, very different being that which is reported on from being the voyeur doing the reporting; I have no idea how journalists carry out their business on a day to day basis without, as you do here, putting themselves into the lives of those they are witnessing. No matter how trivial it is likely that our last actions or words will have had significance to someone if we are living true to our vision of interconnectivity - whether or not it will have been reported on. xx
I've got to read more of your stuff! I liked this one a lot. 'Makes me wonder what people would say about me as well. I know now, that I would say you were a "deep" person.
Love ya!
I would say you were a man who had a magic way with words. Someone I would like to meet up with in Heaven.
Little incidents like just happened get one in a reflective mood. If you were suddenly to explode we would lose a popular poet. Quite frankly I'm not sure whether I'm interested in whether the lady across the street has the hots for you or not. If I were to bet on it, I give it about a 95% probability. ;-)
I find such poignancy in this. A lovely question mark of a poem that feels inquisitive in its lines instead of pitying...I really like "a thought-provoking shadow?" and "what did I said (say) when you last saw me?" Reader identification with this poem = 100%. ~~ Diana
I probably will say you were a great guy, and a great poet; and I will miss you.
Hey Jude
Surely everyone thinks about their mortality at our age!
I believe that if you have lived your life with love and light your beacon will shine on long after you have left this life!
As far as I am concerned, I feel very blessed to know you!
Now stop thinking about what might be and live in what IS!
Good thought provoking poetry!
Much peace light and love
Ok, Sure.I could kiss you a goodbye and spend a tear on your dear departed self from far far away . Would that be fine. Ha ha JK
Miss of course we will do
For the precious words that fall silent too.
And then we rewind honoroubly
What you said before so surely
I believe we all wonder what footprint we will leave behind and if it will matter to those who mattered to us. Well expressed in your lines, Jude.
I thought you were interviewing a star on the red carpet that just flew in a minute ago... No, we're just important to the one's we love and that love us back. That's it. On second thought I did hear a fab interview on the radio this morn....omg for real.
