refreshing redundancy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I encourage reworking creative ideas
as we lift them from the well of experience
reconstruct their cells and capillaries,
mitochondria and blueprint dreams
there’s no better enjoyment
than to fondle these undressed words
and arrange them to lure in our emotional fabric
firing off spontaneous thought
as well as instrumental innuendo
it really doesn’t matter
if my muse is political psychobabble,
supernal delusion, overtly romantic drab,
or self-reflective abusive revelation
I couldn’t care less where I venture
as long when I finish
I am absorbed
in the inventive contours
of imaginative definition
I walk away renewed, restored
and inspired by the pulse of life
and of course, being spared
from any sense of artistic redundancy
is just as refreshing
and just as difficult to achieve
 Reviews of "refreshing redundancy"
The act of creation is end in itself and is no mean-feat - even if inspired by such 'drab' as you describe here; it has life unto itself and life, as such, is always miraculous and full of wonderment - but it's not easy to do and is often difficult to achieve, as you say. Inspiration is the catalyst - and awe is the result of the simplicity of acting on it; yet inspiration itself is often not readily gifted. To the creative mind, the mind-game itself is sufficient to satisfy and the resultant 'creation' legitimate - even if, in itself, it has no inherent 'meaning', 'reason' or any other justification that satisfies the logic of anyone besides (or even including) the one who created the piece. I totally get this and the absorption-converting-into-renewal process. When we are engaged in detail and all the world is passing by regardless, we might feel totally redundant - until our new creation bears witness to the value of that unseen time we have spent... Walking of the line of justification is what's difficult. xx
jude..As humans we all perceive the world around us and what transpires, differently...however that's not the issue..it's what we do with the knowledge of perception..I enjoyed your thoughts and how you presented them in this write...deep yet thought provoking.
Thank you for sharing..seize the day ! kj
A very refreshing, very freeing poem, Jude. Love it.
As we grow we often take from life a different outlook because of the experience we have gained while growing; our creative ideas are the same, something that inspired us to write something a few years ago, when taken out to rework the words, rearrange them, add in some spice here and there, and...*Boom!!*... We will come up with a more refreshed work, and a more satisfying feeling of a job well-done!! It's something that each of us can be proud of, no matter what the work is representing.
Your words have refreshed my mind already.
The writer who settles for "artistic redundancy"
is destined for literary mediocrity--a place that you
I walk away renewed, restored
and inspired by the pulse of life
Truly marvelous when we can do that, especially these days.
It must be very difficult to avoid redundancy by writing poetry every day, and I believe you do it quite well…
"It really doesn’t matter
if my muse is political psychobabble,
supernal delusion, overtly romantic drab,
or self-reflective abusive revelation"
And it is clearly obvious from the above that it is pure pleasure of the word and not any particular message that you are portraying.
Therefore, I will try to refrain from drawing any conclusions from any of your poetry. ;-)
So much of this poem jumps out at you that it is difficult to pick one stand out but here is one I liked-
I identify with the implication of this poem, Jude. It makes me wonder if there is only one way to solve the rubik's cube, and if so, once solved, is all the fun of reworking it with hope of discovery.... gone? -- no more adventurous retries. Maybe nothing is really redundant. "reconstruct their cells and capillaries," I like that. ~~ Diana
And it is what we all do...the thrill of the chase ...of words! There is nothing quite like it, and I agree...it does refresh like nothing else...
I especially like "creative contours of imaginative definition...
O yes it is indeed refreshing' I like your beautiful words , it is an exercise in itself, you play with words well, "There is no better... than to fondle these undressed words"!, it is like trimming the garden??JK
