~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
sometimes I resort to the side of me
I hoped was interred long ago
and reexamine mythological and biblical hearsay
and probe the diatribe of dizzy dreams
where egocentric data
is encrypted through creative intervention and translation
my merry method is to reassess
and possibly decode what has been rewritten over and over
over eons of rhetoric and rhyme
avowed to be novel psychobabble
and transcend what is just crazed self-reflection
spoken by the tongue of cultist appeal
believing in existential bedtime stories
as the masterpieces of this era
written for predisposed synapses
and saturated brain sponges
each delicately crafted
to soak up the crumbling cities of our minds
designed to reinvent
verses of modern drip and cathartic reevaluation
superconscious discernment. Most do seem to see The Kings new clothes, although some are able to think outside the square of the indoctrinated ordained.
It seems silly to write this but, isn't the truth always stranger than fiction.
There are so many different sides to any story out there now a days; it's amazing anyone can think at all.
Great, thought provoking read.
The last line says it all. It may be all we have left in a world where powerlessness runs rampant. A few twisted words and the secret is safe again for another millennium. M.True
Your poetry looks very professional without being written in all caps.
I imagine you were "in a mood" when you wrote this philosophically dense poem, an ars poetica, but this is the place the poets go. We return and return to the scenes of our crimes, to the spots of other's slipping, to the world misfiring. And yet, no matter how many times we remix our words on loop, what we want is to be heard. Lovely, Jude.
A lot of fruit to suite here. Leaves me wonder where you got the idea. You write of high points in the past that have been rehashed many times more than an individual's memory. And then you mention getting on a higher plane--transcending. My observation is that most attempts at both analyzing and imitating those original works is an exercise in futility because the chance of exceeding them is quite remote. On the other hand, if one strikes out originally, one stands a much better chance of reaching a higher plane of thought and written production than one who tries to achieve above what was already historically classic.
As for catharsis by writing it out. It works for some and not for others. Like you wrote, boring, if repeated many times.
Sounds as if you and I have been to some of themsame places. Sometimes you just have to write all the garbage out.
I sense honesty here. Purging emotional tensions can be effective if through the process one is directed, or drawn, to a deeper truth that brings clarity and a more lasting peace.
Sometimes we cant make sense of things that have happened or that we know is about to happen. All we can do is our best and hope it is good enough. A very potent work.
And around and around it goes, Jude, the never ending psychobabble to the nth . . . Still . . . Still, it is better in my "saturated brain sponges," thinking to push on and look for whatever we can find which will make sense. My many years of self examination and "crazed self-reflection" may have been so much mind-fucks, but it did have a purpose, I kept pushing until I found the key which has given me a peace of mind during these last days, a peace of mind I never thought I would posses. You wrote and posted a jewel this morning. Profound. Caused people to think and speak out. Bravo!!!
There is a deep spot in all of us that holds on to what we were taught as a child, even if our adult mind has cast those teachings, aside. Sometimes those things reappear in our dreams and offer up questions as to who we are and what we truly do believe. We need to pack up the conflicting doubt and cast it away. We must live in the life we have created for ourselves or spend our days conflicted between who we are and what someone else thought we should be. Chewy offering, Jude.
Stunning, Jude. So much good stuff here it certainly cures this morning's headache! Seems our "merry methods" (please leave it in!) are identikit and result in the same ends:
believing in existential bedtime stories
as the masterpieces of this era
Package catharsis up, think carefully and send it somewhere. Please. This deserves a wider audience. I'll send a link you may be interested in - even though you're up to your eyes in other merry business! :) Kathartic Kate. xx
