disturbing the peace

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
it doesn’t take much to kill a man
the sun rises over the desert
engrossed in the aftermath of solar flares
over dusty skeletons
left over from eons of war and its silent decay
tethered moonbeams grapple with the sea
casting their reflective silver onto ghost ships
drifting without a crew
over waves breeched by a paradoxical destiny
it doesn’t take much to upset momentum
tides are forgotten in whims of undulating movement
dreams become perishable commodities long forgotten
flesh is dissolved in empty vats of consciousness
gazing into the membranes of hearts gone blind
gladiators will fight until the death
countries will vanish in molten waste
seas will vaporize into an unknown vortex
it doesn’t take much for love to be strangled
by its own blind asphyxiation
cast into a wellspring
imbedded by bloody handprints
grasping to reach its brim
wondering how and when to ascend
before it’s too late to slip
it doesn’t take much to absorb
the dexterity of being reborn
or to mourn the man
killed by indifference
it takes skill to see through the difference
inertly bestowed by fate
if not, continue waiting
so to not disturb the peace
... versus
flesh is dissolved in empty vats of consciousness
The counter tension of paradoxes that you create here is deftly moved through to achieve the perfect poise of the ironic status quo finale. It doesn't take much to rock the boat but it takes an acute eye to so perceptively and imaginatively articulate which fleet it belongs to and where it's headed. xx
You kill a man and watch him die.
what reasons then, the mind apply.
If you should once give, back a life
give’s logic then the surgeon’s knife.
Well, I can identify with what you share here, Jude. I lost an angel today. Yes, the peace is disturbed. Love and peace,
A well thought out poem which asks a question that has yet to be answered.
Less than the breadth of a hair is all it takes to change everything. So thought provoking Jude, one of your best.
You covered a lot of ground with this one, Jude. We find ourselves disturbing the peace in minor and earth-shattering developments. When people and countries think they can shape things to their own way of thinking all hell breaks loose. Sometimes it never get put back the way it was.
