I am standing before a large house
concealed in the woods,
covered by dense vines and rainbow mist
I’ve never set eyes on this residence before
though I’ve dreamt of it over and over,
assembling it from the inside out
rebuilding it step by step,
continuously laying down the groundwork
stone by stone, plank by plank
from a blueprint
designed in my dreams
by an unknown hand
in the deep coolness of the open attic,
my breathe rises to the sunroof
I see the sky
embellished with cumulus clouds,
altering into varied shapes
and silken silhouettes
superimposed by sunbeams
they form dark yet alluring faces
and all sorts of archetypal shapes
conjured up by molecule bending
I always wonder whose house is this anyway?
I feel I belong here
yet, is it truly mine?
and I wonder who designated the dream blueprint
given in an episode of conscious slumber
I know somewhere there’s an unseen proprietor
I wonder where he really resides
though I never seen him I know he’s out there
inside the horizon of my dream
perhaps this elusive landlord
I’ve been seeking
is really the dreamlord of my being
and this house I constantly build
is the structure
supporting my soul

Very interesting dreamscape with wonderful nooks and crannies. I enjoyed this poem very much.
Thought provoking write for sure! You send the imagination, or, is it reality?, soaring, jude. This poem has got to be right up there with your very best! 'Aced it!
Your words drew me right there where you were building this house- plank by plank. My imagination flared into activity thinking all sorts about this kind of house and you brought my imagination to a nice comfortable rest with your last verse. I seldom get carried away by mere words but your powerful well thought out words have captured this poem perfectly. Lovely!
I think I you answer your question quite well at the end. I know that you are looking backward quite far because blueprints haven't been used for 50 years.
Interesting take on that dream place. I have one that is not as romantic and always hosting a huge party when I am there. I relate well to this poem, Jude.
Your house is at least the foundation, perhaps the entire place that houses your soul. You seem to take good care of it. Jude's home, and all's well. A very readable poem.
I'm not surprised at your dream. I, myself, have had recurring dreams that whenever I was in my own house it was a very large house. I dreamed of this house so often that one time when my husband and I went house-hunting I even suggested him to look at the house in my dream. My husband was confused and didn't know what I was talking about. I guess for a moment I thought the house I had in my dream was real because I could even tell the location of the house in my dream. Of course, we could not find it, it was only in my dream. It would have been nice if there really was such a house because it was so large.
