Dan Johnson

There you sit
Curled in a ball
From the ceiling
One bulb lit.
Down in the blood room

In comes John
With his stick
Beats upon your body
Blood flows…till it’s gone.
Down in the blood room

You beg to confess
For something
Someone else did
God damn, what a mess.
Down in the blood room

Down in the blood room
No place for mistakes
Many a souls gone there
Only to be taken to the tomb…of the dead.
Down in the blood room

Didn’t steal that purse!
Didn’t sell that dope!
Didn’t kill that dude!
Didn’t avoid the blood room curse!

Take my chances
Out on the street
At least I can run
And avoid the dances
Down in the blood room

It is said that many years ago in New York City, under the streets where subways go there use to be secret rooms where the cops would take suspects to be “interviewed.” They referred to it as the “Blood Room.”

I enjoyed this immensely. Something tells me there are STILL a few 'private blood rooms,' even today.

Too bad the world can't just consist of the good, what a wonderful world this would be. It is too bad that this has to be true Dan. It saddens my heart. Thank you for your words, Rose

There's a lot of dark side about the law, it was like that too back home when I was in Hong Kong.

People used to say that the detainees were being beaten with the phone book or something on top of them so it would not leave bruises, but they could feel the pain during the beating process.

I think there's this kind of darkness within every counctry. You have portrayed this very well in this poem.

Very good presentation, Dan. I think your repetition is well used here. Easy reading although a gory tale.
