When I was just a wee lad,
Small as I could be,
My simple life would expand
Beyond my wildest dream…
There I’d sit,
Upon my Grandma’s knee.
I’d fidget,
I’d fuss,
My eyes would gather in
Whatever I could see.
Little did I know at the time
That grandma’s, aunties, and mama’s too,
Had the regal right of women’s rank and file,
To hold,
Snuggle,
Care for,
And for goodness
Sake,
look lovingly into the eyes
of little lives…and
maybe…that’s why grandma’s love to smile.
I too am a grandma of nine and I know all about the smiles and why they come to be, another great write.

Hi Dan,
Very enjoyable. It made me remember the faces of my Mom's Mom and her sister, who were like two peas in a pod. They were fun to be around, maybe because they didn't try to pinch my cheek every time they saw me.
