This is a collage of ramblings I experienced during a time I was trying desparately to put cohesive thought to a verse. Blame it on my muse.

Nothing’s changed!
© 2007
Dan Johnson

I’ve got to get out of the house,
need to shake off these blues filled bouts,
hard as I try,

nothing’s changed

I walk down the sidewalk,
head down, no one to stop and talk
to, about, unintended consequences

I thought if I went to the sunny side of the street,
A bright spirit would guide me
on a clear and direct path back to you.

Nothing's changed.

No matter how I try,
still leaves me blue
And I want to rearrange
My life, just to get back to you,

Yet, nothing’s changed.

I met this gal up in Kalugnuk,
Her name is Sal,
her brother’s name is Chuck.
They fished for more than fifty years,
Sadly though,
Sal had no teeth,
Chuck had no luck,
  fishing, that is.
And they went no where, anymore.

Let me wish you a dream,
 Gently join me, please,
We’ll go over the hills, cross the streams,
Over the peaks of firs, hemlocks
And other rooted schemes.
Sleep with me through summer nights
We’ll join together in star ship flight.
From one majestic place to another,
Hand in hand, with you,
my night time lover.

Ramblings or not, this one uses language and images open to interpretation by the reader. Well done!

Nice way to ramble if you ask me! The final ten lines change the tone dramatically to wonderfully uplifting and creates a sense of floating on air, as if in a dream state. I like it, Dan!

Yes, this should be a campfire song, when crickets make you crazy and mosquitoes go kamikaze, when a guitar is tired to be mute and firewater clear the throats but good.
Noting changed? don't bet on it.

Awwww, a little bittersweet. A longing, a need left unfulfilled, a void. A chance at a new beginning.......

Be safe,

This is a great abstract piece. It starts out lonely and forlorn and ends in thoughts of what could be if you let it. Different and quite refreshing.

There's nothing wrong with calling some, or all of it, back.
Revel in it... wallow in it... get it all over you and pig out!
Someone once said that the past is prolouge, and if so, be ready!
This is good work, holding the readers's attention and sympathy.
But, now, I gotta let go.........................

Different and extremely enjoyable, easy-to-read pen. I really like the way in which you use metaphors (guess that's my thing: I always like the inventive ways in which writers use them.).
