This is NOT a war song!
Just how I felt yesterday!
Oh well - today is another day!

Please - no pro-war haters. Truth is i think we are about 12 years late, but late we are!

Things Sure Are Getting Strange

by

(A SEQUEL TO BOB DYLAN'S THINGS HAVE CHANGED)

I

Things Are Getting Stranger Everyday
All this anger has no place to lay
Some jackass poured wine on my bread
Disaster after disaster, and we're drinking sour wine
We're seeking other's treasures, coveting their sins
War is suffering civilians and conspiracy minds
Damn man, Bob Dylan, Where Are You?
Snap, crackle, pop, where are good old days?
It's raining havoc, evil rules, in the valley of change ...
And everybody's telling me, my songs are no good
Damn Man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

Chorus
Things are getting stranger everyday ...
People are scared and don't know what to say ...
Gravity is moving backwards, night is becoming day!
And Damn man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

II

Folks were expecting rainbows, they got hurricanes
The President is seeking revenge
He's sending dynamite gifts down on Iraq
Even William Shakespeare
Would have trouble with this mess
Everything's strange, everything's totally insane
Things Definitely Are About To Change
Damn Man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

Chorus
Things are getting stranger everyday ...
People are scared and don't know what to say ...
Gravity is moving backwards, night is becoming day!
And Damn man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

Musical Break

Bridge

I picked up my feet and started running
The faster I ran, the sicker I felt
Whiskey and smokes, women and wine
Nowhere to go, and things got broke
Sweet Lord, lucky I'm not collecting dust and leaves
What must we do or say,
To make things better today ...
'Cause Things Are Getting Stranger Everyday

III

When things get stranger than they were
I just sit around appreciating
Whiskey and smokes, women and wine
Nowhere to go, and nothing but time
Damn Man, Things Are Getting Stranger Everyday
Damn Man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

Chorus
Things are getting stranger everyday ...
People are scared and don't know what to say ...
Gravity is moving backwards, night is becoming day!
And Damn man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

REPEAT VERSE I

Things Are Getting Stranger Everyday
All this anger has no place to lay
Some jackass poured wine on my bread
Disaster after disaster, and we're drinking sour wine
We're seeking other's treasures, coveting their sins
War is suffering civilians and conspiracy minds
Damn man, Bob Dylan, Where Are You?
Snap, crackle, pop, where are good old days?
It's raining havoc, evil rules, in the valley of change ...
And everybody's telling me, my songs are no good
Damn Man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange

TAG ...
Damn Man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange
Damn Man, Things Sure Are Getting Strange
And I Sure Wish Things Start Getting Better

you are spot on, I can see Mr. Zimmerman belting (if the word "belting" can really be applied to Dylan) this one out! Very, very well done. Mal.

We can be seen within our words...Writing is such a damn fine tool to be heard. Your words are great....your soul deep.....That's what I see my friend...Ty, Dani

I see it as a protest song, and Alex gave you a good exemple of a good protest song. Because of the length of the song and nature of its content, I would label it folk. I do not know if the offer is legimate or not. If they came seeking you out on your first song...try to see if they have an internet site and read about them.
Also if you find it let me know too. Good Luck Bill

Excellent. We're going down the same road again, Shy. This reminds of the '60s song by Stephen Stills:

FOR WHAT IT'S WORTH
Written by Stephen Stills

Back to lyrics

There's something happening here
What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away

We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
