Oh! But, seldom slept or forgave
My Goddess's sometimes wise.
Beauty, Her enchantment, my joy ...
35" 22" 34" was Her size!
She was a smart, true -blue Yankee.
Snow blew, sweet like Her skin!
I was aging Southern Whiskey.
She drank bourbon and gin.
Northern genius, Her heart of rhyme!
Huron sultry eyes lured.
She Doll with talent, Her magic.
But, we fought all the time!
She loved old furniture and cars,
Antiques my fireplace!
She's a custom classic, -- Me ? ....
I found a most modern place.
When Her was a sweet little girl,
Man exploited and used.
And when Her grew much older,
Men abused and confused!
Her and I, we loved great poetry!
Our rap grew deep and strong!
But, we said too many hostile things!
I yelled! And Her took it wrong!
Once I rode love-arching rainbows
After singing Her sweet name ...
Her fiddled rose fresh love ballads ...
Adieu! Wild untamed flame!

Your poem is as always passionate warm and full of magic, every line wonderful.
I loved it!
"Once I rode love-arching rainbows
After singing Her sweet name ...
Her fiddled rose fresh love ballads ...
Adieu! Wild untamed flame!"
I have known "untamed flames" and they seem to leave a lasting impression. But would we have it any other way? I enjoyed this poem!

Had to read it again. Have read this over and over...off to my library this one goes. One of the best pieces I have read in a long time on this subject. Always find good things on your link. This link never fails me :) Thanks-Em
The first verse drew me in, the second BLEW ME AWAY with it's perfection, the third verse-everyone has been there a time or two :), the fourth verse gives the third reason...the 5th verse tells us WHY she is the way she is....makes the reader love her too, the 6th brings us back to reality and life's unfairness (along with the 5th but is more profound here), 6th verse sums it up quite well. The "Her" references and the way the language was used here---oh, you are clever... I call this PERFECTION. You have outdone yourself YET again! Was a pleasure to read.
Thank you,
Emilie
