There are these undreamed dreams
that arrive on nights without sleep
danced by one
to a duet of a single voice

I know not to endanger
this new species of affection
I have found within me
about you

by hunting
either with cupid arrow
or hungry camera of lust

but rather content myself
to sit in this camouflaged blind
unarmed
silent

watching your secret movements
admiring your tiger eyes and Siberian voice
noting your alternating moods of light and dark
tasting from a distance
this feral nature that is yours all alone

listening with green ears
to the soft growl of insistent self
you emit stalking this emotional jungle

I admire
the sleek unconcerned manner with which
you measure the prey drinking around us

slender, taupe-legged antelope
tender, timid bunnies that regard you
from a warren of nested tables across the room

You will partake of them in your own time
fashion them with your fangs and loving claws
into a food of your own design

Then watch as you nestle in this crook of limbs
twitching with the memory of sultry adventures
licking at the honey and salt residue of amber wounds

I cannot see, but only imagine the visions
that stalk your feral sleep
the true species of your impenetrable nature
