Drummer Boys with guns

The picture of you and me

In front of the civil war cannon

Dressed in our blue and gray

A centennial picture

Celebrating history, we were

Drummer boys with guns

All before the change

Then life became too much

So you took a

Leave

Checked out for a while

Telling us how

The morning cartoons began to

Send you messages, they were

Talking talking talking

To you

Hence, I knew from then on our lives

Were changed

And so brother

Today you again leave

Return to the same old war

Your fourth trip back, maybe

This time, the demons

Will be slain and remain forever

Dead and buried

... one of the most beautiful lines and allegories ive ever seen. ..
how, how, HOW did you come up with that??? 'drummer boys with guns'....*picks self up off floor*. ..
the allsuion in that....OMG... the innocent offering of a child, that little drummer boy, just playing for the King, giving everything, the ONLY thing he had to give. .. so of himself and selfless transitioning to or against the boys with the gun...the older version, still playing for some king [a manipulative governmental kind], but a deadly rat-a-tat, rum-pum-pum game. . even the music that comes is the same, the offering of self is the same, but the sacrifice is different...but the end result....
oh good grief!!!!!
just stellar
wow
drummer boys with guns
maybe that should be my new [rat-a-]tat.too??
wow
argh
HOW did you do that??
amazed.

It's a sad state of mind when this happens. A helpless feeling for those around such a mind. Lady J

So beautifully expressed and worded!Sometimes growing up means growing away from people we love, fate and time changes us all and we mourn for happier times that we can never recapture! SC
