Soon, the snow will melt
I will walk away from this place
I once called home
Into , the great unknown
The American dream, head west young man
am I running to or from, maybe neither
I’m being carried, along these currents of
life

To live, to experience it all

To wander the dusty canyons, sleep on the hot desert floor or
walk among the tall trees, feel their breath upon my shoulders
I want it all
the cold nights, shivering. Alone
the brilliant sunrise
bursting open
I want it t’all
I am but a child
alone
alone but not alone
wandering but not lost
brave but also afraid
of what I may find

I have found kindness in
unsuspecting places
love nested oceans apart an d because of you
Marco,,Marliu and little Vittorio
there will always be a place I can
call home

I just have the funniest picture in my head reading this again-- you, like Johny Appleseed, your pack slung across your back,,, and suddenly, a poem is born in my head. ,,, sometime soon I'll post it. I'll drop you a line when I do. Thanx for the inspiration. --Charlie

Stan, This poem captures my feelings of life is a journey not necessarily a destination..You are right, just go where the wind takes you, but always be safe and aware.
If you are ever on the east coast, look me up, We can "linger"..lol
Peace, love, and light,

Home is this earth for us Gypsys. We go when the urge strikes and we find a niche to stay, get warn and smell new flowers and then the wind will turn and we'll drift away. This is a very moving piece.
peace and love,
Susan

Home is where the heart is regardless of where one's is, physically. Your adventures sound like a bit of heaven on earth. Wish you could take me with you, but ...

God bless you. Kathy

> < of an into the wildesque type of venture; somehow all prophets seem to go wandering, and most in those desert.ed regions. . ..a wailing wall of your own world-- -and i would imagine as filled with reds and ochres and umbers as any bleeding HEart.. .
the part that scares me is "the cold nights, shivering. a\lone"::: i should have no fear for when you ARE alone...but you.... the dark[ness] makes a beautiful but terribly isolative blanket.. ..*sigh* a small prayer. ..but the transcendental makings, the illuminative understandings of your own, of what will be in your BEing...

and home is where the heart is [so 'they' say]--but soemtimes the heart gets lonely, and home should never be that. ..
this has such a deeper resonant longing to it::: wanderlust indeed..
sometimes the only light burning is the one from within [irony is that it may be upon those high desert p(l)ains and plateaus waiting for you as well]

Stan, the thing I can tell you from past experiences is that it's not the destination, but the journey that makes the travelling so worth while. Good on you...nice write to.

Peace,
Dan

"I have found kindness in

A lovely thought this is... Long ago I was told that a home is where you are welcome to stay and not just visit.. and I believe I have many 'homes' out there as I travel this 'life' and its pathways.
