I found a crown of
thorns
hitched to a fence post
high on a top a mountain ridge
Sangre De Christo
a relic of the past
a loop of twisted
barb wire
 a  link
of  barriers bygone

An enclosure to keep others
out
or to keep things treasured
 in
or maybe a simple
a message sent per say
that suffering is part of who or
what we are, and…………
life is hard

sometimes a struggle
encircled with pain and hurt
betrayal
loss and loneliness
this crown of thorns
I dearly cherish
To always behold 
 as a reminder
of Mountains climbed
this constant effort
 to cleanse, to purify

Sanctify, sanctify, sanctify
me, high on this mountain ridge
this old twisted loop of barbed wire
found
 on Sangre De Christo Mountains….
