An overdose!

On a dark and dreary night I drive home deep in thought, my friend just lost his sweet daughter only 30 years old to an overdose of drugs. She was a lovely being full of heart, all he has left now are the memories and the pets she adopted, she was a hands on animal rights activist, her soul easily scared by all her caring, a beautiful young woman.

An anguished call, a friend,
His youngest daughter’s life did end,
You mean Heike, I can’t,
I don’t understand,

What happened, what did she do?
Just sobbing, not a clue,
An overdose I guess,
It’s just all one big mess,

Quiet now, I swear I hear his heart,
It’s tearing him apart,
When I said, when did this happen,
I thought just keep on blabbing,

Let him some space, don’t push to hard,
It’s tearing him apart,
A sob a click and he was gone, the phone was dead,
A hundred miles I drove instead,

I didn’t say a word, just a hug I give, and love,
You know I said she’s up above,
An Angel, lost, in this world was she,
To heaven now she holds the key,

An altar lid with candles small,
A picture of a girl grown tall,
Heike is right here I said,
An Angel now instead,

With broken voice and shoulders folded,
Like a child severely scolded,
There he sad wrapped in himself,
Like some fossil on a shelf,

No talking now, just hands on shoulders,
While in agony he smoulders,
My little girl is gone he said,
I wish he sobbed, it where me instead.©08/07/2009

What a sad conclusion to a useful life! You penned your friend's loss and his grief so tenderly in this poem, J.H.! How he must have appreciated your hug of consolation.
Bless you, my friend! - Micke

In my "Drugs, Cuddling a Little Golden Dragon" is a first hand account of a journey that few have heard and less understand, the lost of a child to drugs, because for many years they aren't six foot under, they are buried under alley's like of fetid garbage as they try to reach Nirvana, day after day, year after year, they have the drug solace you have left with the pain.
My heart is go to your friend, I know what he's feeling, I was there, am still are.

Georg

Oh how this pierces my heart and for your friend, for Heike and for you I am so deeply saddened for all of you. So many today are leaving us before God has chosen their time. So much living yet to be, cut short. I pray all will find comfort in God's love....

Be always safe,
Karen
