Our friend Ronnie wasn't famous or rich
But what he had you just could not hold
Cause' Ronnie had something that money cannot buy
You see wee Ronnie had a heart of gold
My brother and I were Ronnie's dear friends
Although Ronnie was some years older
But Ronnie had a young outlook on life
He gave age the old cold shoulder
We would go out each week for many years
And we would laugh and have much fun
My sides would often ache with pain
At the things Ronnie said and done
Now Ronnie would smoke like a chimney stack
Light one up as he put one out
And the many times we told him off
He would simply ask us not to shout
Ronnie's legs gave out two years ago
And it was downhill from that day
But he still came out and done his best
In the same old Ronnie way
But in the end it beat him, and he passed away
On the eighth day of November
But no one can take our memories away
And wee Ronnie we will always remember
So we'll never forget you as the years go past
And we'll toast to show you we still care
Cause' even though you weren't famous or rich
You were a better man than most out there.
