HEE, HEE

The three lunatics escaped
In an old beat up car
They drove through the desert
And they travelled quite far

But the car shook and shuddered
Then soon after, broke down
Stuck in a baking desert
Miles from any populated town

'It's a long way to walk men
Through the sand and scorching sun
But there's no other way for us
It just has to be done'

'We must each take a part
Of this old beat up Ford
But for this we'll draw straws
Keep it all above board'

So the first takes the radiator
Says 'I'm no lamb to the slaughter
'Cause when the sun gets too hot
I'll have plenty of water'

The second takes the gearbox
Says 'In this heat I won't boil
'Cause I'll cover my body
In the cars gearbox oil'

But the third takes the door off
And his two friends look sad
'Cause they know that their friend
Has finally gone mad

But he holds the door smiling
Say's, 'My friends, I won't despair
'Cause I can open the window
And let in some cool air'

Very original and amusing. You could make this into a series I think. Patrick

Funatic!
Looking forward to reading more of your
witty narratives with tightly crafted stanzas.

A few suggestions regarding punctuation:

1. quotation mark after "board" (l. 16)
2. quotation mark after "oil" (l. 24)
3. "Say's" shd be "Says" (ll. 18 & 22 & 30)
4. "Cause'" shd be "'Cause" (ll. 19 & 23 & 27 & 31)

Thanks for the encouragement on my "Rich in the Kitchen".

Geoff
