Each expression hardened through the years,
Each smile a disguise, suppressing her fears.
Robbed of innocence, she silently cries,
She wonders of roses and sunny skies.
Invisible, herself she cannot find,
A past of shadows borne of the hands of time.
Her world pure sadness, loss of love
She escapes an image of the moon above.
Her dreams: beaches, flowers, shiny stars.
Her reality: a rage caged behind bars.
Her heart once gold, wrapped in a satin bow,
Once upon a time, her true happiness showed.
Such pretty colors there are for the blind,
But behind her eyes, a search for love you'll find.
