Spinning Round
Every summers day of my youth
I’d ride my bicycle
The neighbor kids and I
We’d pedal down a country road
The wind in our faces
The wheels spinning round
Just like our youth
spinning away in the dust
rising behind us
We’ll pedal for the rest of our lives
We pedaled up a hill
sweat pouring off our brows
A blue sky all around us
The clouds forming pictures
the moments of our youth
Our lives spinning round
We will remember
Our memories define us
We’ll remember those summer days
riding our bicycles on dusty roads
We’ll pedal for the rest of our lives

do memories define us or do we define our memories? or is it a bit of both?

"And the wheels go round and round and the painted
ponies go up and down...we're captured on the carousel
of time...we can't return, we can only look behind from
where we came and go round and round and round in the
circle game"
Remember? The song describes a boy and the stages of his youth. The beauty of children is that they live in the moment, but we "mature" adults are always striving, always running to get somewhere else.
Ironically all we really want is that feeling of living in the
now. This is why those memories are so sweet. Yes, "we pedal all our lives"! Oh the imagery and mood you create is like an old 8mm, Dale. One you rewind and play over and over to recapture the feeling. Our memories go round on the reel. Catch them and remember pure joy!

That line is more true than many of us care to acknowledge. Enjoyed reading you again, Dale. Have a joyful new year. ~~Nordette
