"times they are a-changin
so don't block up the hall
there's a battle outside
and it is ragin'."
Bob Dylan

Golden Breeze
he was healed
by the angel watching over him
she played the golden harp
he pulled his music from the air
as it wafted, breezily, melodically truthful
he heard "the times are a-changin"
and "a hard rains a-gonna fall"
but "it's alright, Ma, (I'm only bleeding)"
so someone needs step up a bit
to change this mess we're in
otherwise we'll explode ourselves
calling it the nuclear impediment
poets will hurry to express themselves
musicians will hurry to write a universal melody
artists will hurry to paint their masterpiece
the feds will hurry and print holler bills
to pay off those screaming idiots
that built those bombs and sh*t
we'll put em all up on our mantles
and take down the shelves
of "help yourself get better" books
and the angel with the golden harp
will continue to play
I like this "Dylanesque" message poem; more appropos (?sp) today than perhps then. Especially the younger gernation of music/poets doesn't seem to be sending the right messages, just reacting to stimuli -- let's hope we all try to "step up" soon and do our parts!
This is one very, almost philosophical write with so many issues involved in the overtones. Almost like hearing Nero play his fiddle with Rome burning in the back drop.

Histories of the world are generally written to either celebrate technology and science, or to herald doom. My book examines the path of the spirit in the onward rush.

I hope many step up very soon, or I fear that hard rain's a gonna fall - real hard - far too soon.
Be safe,
Karen
Step up to the plate - before it's too late!
