I lost my father last week to a six month
illness. He suffered greatly the last two.
I wrote this just as a statement of my belief. I don't see it as a finality only a respite. He deserves the peace I believe he found and all the love, joy and happiness that will shower him. No more suffering!!
Mansion in Heaven
He had suffered so
He built many bridges
to carry us across
Now we had to carry him
to his resting place
Yet he was not there
He had already flown
He had taught us the cowboy way
riding our horses across the grassy plains
He taught us to turn the soil
to sow our seed
Our harvest was usually exceptional
He had taught us that way
of sweat and blood
We owed him our respect
as he respected us
My brother and I
buried our Father today
Now he had a mansion
far away in heavens kingdom
An angel showed him the way
So he had flown
I'm sorry I missed this one back in September; I lost my Dad in 2003 and also wrote a poem about it (posted here at AD as "Gone") Now that he has fled this realm, I hope you are still well and strong...
best, Mike

Dear Dale, I am so sorry to hear about your Father. (hugs) Holly
Bless you, Dale. This resiliant cowboy man entered my heart completely as I read of his soul through your heartfelt, no fuss, words. The emotional power plays here are strong, bonded in blood, sweat, tears and fruitful pleasures of family oneness. May your grief be tempered with joy, as you so aptly express. It is the farmer's way... we reap what we sow and even pain is metamorphosed into a harvest of beauty in its time, if it is wisely invested. I never felt so close to my farming roots and ancestry as I did burying my mother last year... and still do when I regularly go back and visit her country grave. May sound mad, but I could almost eat the soil there... To me it is luscious. I feel greatly nurtured by your words, Dale, as I hope you are by those of all those well-wishers and sympathisers below me. We are truly all of the same vine, bonded by our deep and meaningful roots. May his sun shine on, sweeping away the rain and storms of his last few weeks. It is the farmer's way. Seasons and cycles until seasons are no more. There's great glory here. Love, Kate xx
Such a loving tribute to your Father. Throughout his life, I'm sure you made him proud, but I can envision him smiling down on you for this wonderful acknowledgement of his love for you and your brother.
I am so sad for your loss. It has only been about a year and a half since I lost my father and it still hurts so much....although thethe memories are starting to hold more joy than sorrow. The dead move on joyfully, it is us who move on sadly. ;) Silver
You have my deepest condolences Dale! Even when we are glad their suffering is over we still mourn the loss! I pray you will have peace through the mourning period, knowing he now has it!
I am so sorry to read this Dale...may your Daddy be at peace!!
Wonderful tribute my friend!!
Love and many Hugs to you!!

Hey CJ,
I lost my own father in June of this year, also after he had undergone much suffering since February so I can really relate to all that you are going through right now. Your poem is a wonderful tribute to your father. Sending positive vibes your way.
Thank You All my dear friends here at
the den. I know what wonderful people
you all are. You touch me with your
caring and also with your beautiful poetry.
I'm doing fine, and I know my Dad is

I am so sorry for your loss, Dale. It sounds like your father taught you very well and was one hell of a man. I lost my Dad 7 years ago, and sometimes I go out on the old porch and still expect to find him there, with a cup of coffee in his hand, and another wonderful story to tell. But I think the ones we love always stay with us, at least in our hearts and souls.
So sorry Dale for your loss. It is a hurdle to overcome, but in your heart and soul he will be with you always. My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.....

Dale, my spiritual friend,
Know that your dad is at rest and his spirit is flying. He chose this time of the year to leave this earth. A fitting time, for he loved the harvest and the the change of the seasons. He is free from pain and suffering and his spirit is alive in you and your family. May peace, love and light guide your healing through this time in your journey.
My heart goes out to you, and know you are blessed with many friends and loved one to lean on, here in the den.
Namaste,
Amber "V"
First of all my sincere sympathies and regards my friend for I have walked your path before. This write is a loving tribute that any father, myself included, would truly appreciate and love you for. I think he was a lucky man as well.
A beautiful heart-felt tribute to your father Dale. May the many memories cushion your grief and bring you peace. You have a strong and sustaining outlook on the after life. Hold onto your beliefs.
Hugs,
Marcia
Let this coming of age story of a boy named Bean take you back to a simple time. Set in a small southern town in the 1960's, encircled by a river and gleaming white cotton fields.
A wicked Cajun Fairy named Robes Pierre entered the impenetrable Magical doll land of Sha Bebe. Queen Faustina, the ruler of the doll land, thought she had destroyed him, but he's back! Will the doll land survive his evil ways?
best, Mike
Sincere condolences Dale.
Grace n peace
