village limits

old cow towns
    surrounded
surrender now

four lane expressways
    like junkyards filled
bumper to bumper

factories line
    a winding river
smoke belched clouds

rolling country sides
    crossed sadly
two lane blacktops

rural byways
    split vast wilderness
within wasted lands

suddenly entering
    village limits
dirt lanes merge

interstate highways
    lead to big cities
mass humanities coalesce

deep midnight dies
    light pollution
inner city blues

We've lost so much in our greed for gain haven't we Dale? A top shelf slice of life.

Oh, it's slowly happening here. Someday the only open land will be the vineyards, if they survive--and the wheat farms, the market and God willing. A four-lane hiway is being paved as we speak on the outskirts of town. This poem speaks as prophecy to a dying way of life and the infringement of civilization and a burgeoning greed that seems to know no bounds. Fine write...

Excellent imagery, Dale, that captures the mood of big city intrusions and their inherant problems. Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Dear Dale,
How well you've written about how man has ruined the beauty of this earth with his greed for more and better. I was in the "big city" last week and at night we couldn't see the stars because of all the city lights; that made me very sad and glad I live in the country where you feel like you can reach up and touch them.
Hugs,
Marcia
