all around
life’s ups and downs
the carnival’s in town
it’s surely made for losers
down and outers
looking for a lucky ride
to take them outta town
where dreams are made
at the penny arcade
of schemes
Old five and dimers
sitting on park benches
staring at crinkled old newspapers
reading yesterdays bad news
Across the park
lined up in rows
are all the pink houses
with white picket fences
and shiny new cars out front
the kids in playgrounds
can’t see the old timers
lined up on park benches
one old timer says
I like the scenarios you paint here to remind us that what goes around most certainly comes around. This is so universal in its personal portraiture... our lives are uniquely ours and yet we seem so often to share identical paths... like the idea of carousel ponies galloping galloping their endless miles.. yet always in a circle! Great write, Dale, thank you. Kate xx
So true. I'm on life's "go round" right now, Dale. I don't believe in "lucky rides." You have to make your "luck." God knows that ain't easy. Sweet write, my friend. Love and peace,
