I felt a sense of being watched
lost in the dark woods
the thick pines knotted in growth
I picked my way through

I was the visitor watching
stalked I heard tree tops
come together mystically
creating a cryptic sound
like a drum beating low

I felt so sad, frightened, alone
lost without a way home
I heard sounds behind me
like horse hooves pounding

Into the clearing rode the moon
with silver armour plated crown
shining like a Knight of Old
drawn sword flashed my eyes

my eyes blinded in surprise
blinking for sight
to catch just a glimpse
the thoughts of the mist

I watched and was seen
like lightning flashes
in distant horizons
lighting up the silhouettes

the phantoms watched shadows
slip into the fading moon
a shape peered over steel
galloping steed neighed

like a whisper spoke to the one
who peered over my shoulder
watching me
