the stark landscape
the thorny trees
brown and gray
tumble weeds
rolling sandy brush
sage and mesquite
arid and dry
a lone oasis
a lone tree
patches of grass
then the starkness
the wild and wooly west
blue skies turned white
wispy clouds fly high
sunlight creates heat
bleaching the landscape
the stark yet beautiful
lone prarie
