There comes a time in a woman's life when she must face reality, the Prince isn't coming!

Don't distrub the gloom of my solitude,
Don't tell me of sunshine and rainbows, let somber be my mood.
Don't tell me that happiness is just around the bend,
Because I have already been there on this journey without end.
I have no illusions about my impending fate,
It shall be as it has always been, up to this very date!
Living in hope, but always dying in dispair,
I'm not wishing on stars anymore, I've already been there.
I am taking my foolish dreams and heart and putting them away,
I must begin to deal in reality, this very day!
Now I will face my reality,
There will be no Happy Ever After in a Love Cottage by the sea.
No passionate lover to set my pent up passion free,
No loving man to tenderly hold and comfort me.

Music: Someday My Prince Will Come

I hate to disagree with you SC but yes indeed he is out there and you are just looking in the wrong place, stop searching, let him find you maybe you are just passing each other, I know because after bad relationships I found mind but not until I decided to stop searching and I found that the person I shared a frienship with for so many years and shared an apt. with was right in front of my face. So we soon split with the people we were seeing and that was 34 years ago.
He's there give him a chance to find you.

Even a Prince most shot his horse when Rosinant break its leg, so, try to walk wearing a heavy armour, a heavy lance, a heavy sword, a heavy saddle (you won't believe how much they take for one) all the way to the fairy one castle.
Love doesn't make thing to weight less, and a naked Prince would have been chased from the kingdom riding a log wearing tar and feathers.

On the gates to Hades in Dante's Inferno are the words...
"Abandon hope all ye who enter here"
As long as we breathe there will be hope, it is just human nature. If you stop hoping, you stop living, as bad as things are for me now, I know I'm not ready to stop either, not just yet Sissy.

Oh Darling SC, I too have put away the dreams, reality is a constant companion though I wish it weren't but then if wishes were horses then beggars would ride. Our hearts have be shred enough. It is time to mend and regain some sense of self. This is a sad write my Darling SC, but one I can empathise with.
Huggggssssss!

This is beautiful but also so very sad...
To give up on the hope of that perfect love is to give up on what life shoud be, to face that kind of reality is to lose your heart and sacrifice your soul. So much pain comes through in this one SC, it is a great poem.

You express a universal (albeit rather sad) theme, SC. Of course I hope you are mistaken but I can understand these feelings. A most meaningful write. Best wishes to you. Love and peace,
