When Evil Drove To Town

This is a true event, about the day a crazed gunman shot up our town.

It was a sunny day and no one would have thought,
That evil was on the move and it was my town it sought.
A married couple from a neighboring town, had fought and she was going to leave,
The husband grabbed a gun, shot his wife in the head, leaving their child to grieve.
He grabbed his weeping child and threw her in his car,
He drove like a bat out of hell, to my town, which wasn't far.
The townfolk were doing business, it was lunchtime,
It was time to run last minute errands, grab some lunch and unwind.
It was Judy's day off at the diner, but had agreed to fill-in,
She took the place of her sick friend.
She took the lunch order to the employees at the bank across the street,
She smiled, not knowing, that she and death would soon meet.
The crazed gunman, parked in front of the bank, shot her down,
She lay in a pool of blood, lifeless on the ground.
A Preacher, who was leaving after doing his banking, was shot in the head,
Seeing his motionless body, the gunman assumed the Preacher dead.
Cops came from everywhere, finally taking the gunman into custody,
Soon the gunman would serve time and would never be free.
Children were now motherless, a Preacher carries a bullet in his head,
Lives were cut short, there was mourning for the dead.
Things are back to normal after what went down,
But we will long remember, the day Evil drove into town.

I think the real sad thing about this is even the killer in a way was a victim in this. Somthing obviously snapped inside his brain to make him fire that first fatal shot and after that it was a skid into insanity. I am not defending his actions...just the human mind is such a fragile organ and we never know what will push someone over the edge.
