She does not know, but we have shared common ground,
We have both heard his love whisper, a common sound.
I am his love of old, she is his new,
She is the present, I'm someone he once knew.
He is a man child, running wild and free,
He is her present and thankfully my history.
Past experience, let's me see the handwriting on the wall,
She is in danger and heading for a painful fall.
He has no structure, is a rootless tree,
He will take what he can get, tire quickly and then flee.
Shall I whisper into her mind's canyon, of the impending doom?
That heartbreak is the outcome, waiting in the shadowy gloom.
No, my lips will remain silent, for this tragedy must play out,
I will cover my ears against the sound of her agony shouts.
Ashes to ashes, dust to dust,
He is a painful memory and a killer of trust.
Two women have stood upon this fallow, barren land,
The common ground, loving a self-centered man.

A brilliant write and one I'm sure that many women can relate to on one level or another. It's hard to say nothing when you know that the outcome brings pain but sometimes you have to stand by even when you know that someone is making a huge mistake and hopefully be there to help pick up the pieces when the inevitable happens.
I don't know if this is based on something you've experienced or are experiencing but it is such a convincing write.
