Charlie was, " THE MAN", he provided a Living Hell for his wife and child

I am a bartender, at The Jester, a bar that has been open for years,
I've watched drunks stagger in and out in quest for beers.
Charlie is a regular, he comes in every night,
His wife doesn't want him to drink, it leads to a constant fight.
Charlie always comes in bragging, that he puts her in her place,
His wife wears dark glasses to hide her beaten face.
Personally, I think that Charlie is slime, but his money spends,
My job is to serve drinks and let God worry about sins.
Rumor has it, that Charlie beats his son as well,
Charlie, the provider, he provides a living Hell.
Charlie has just wandered in, demanding a double,
Followed by his wife, so I brace for trouble.
She walks to the bar and sits at his side,
Her face is a bloody mess, a fact she didn't hide.
Charlie raises his glass to drink and she stops it in mid air,
His eyes send out a warning, her's say she doesn't care.
She said," Let My tears be the chaser for your booze",
" Tonight you took everything away, I have nothing more to lose!"
" I rushed Tommy to the hospital after the beating he got from you".
" Now Tommy is with God, he didn't pull through!"
Charlie orders a Bloody Mary and shrugs, to show he doesn't care,
He ignores the tragic woman, as though she wasn't there.
She reaches into her purse and pulls out a gun,
Points it at Charlie and then shows him a picture of their son.
" You tell Tommy that you love him and kiss his picture as well".
" If you don't do it Charlie, I swear I will blow you to Hell!"
Charlie's hands tremble, as he does what she asks,
I can't read her feelings, she keeps them masked.
She says," You ordered a Bloody Mary, I'll supply the blood!"
Then she placed the gun aganist her head, pulled the trigger, then fell with a thud.
Charlie sits in stunned silence, her blood taints his drink,
The horror that had unfolded before me,
changes my outlook and makes me think.
I step from behind the bar and walk out the door,
I will not be The Jester's bartender anymore!
