Dead Wrong

My car lurched, sputtered and then died,
I was stranded on a dark, deserted road, having to pull my car to the side.
I looked at the gas guage and the needle was pointing to E,
I had meant to buy gas, but got so busy.
I had been warned to avoid this road, it had been the place of a series of murders and rapes,
I had seen the dead women's bodies, caught on viedo tape,
Then a towtruck pulled up, like an answer to a prayer,
I looked out my window as a guy from a horror flick materialized there.
He was dirty, hairy and tatooed, a nightmare from a horror flick,
He looked like the dude that always beheaded the screaming chick!
He motioned for me to open my window and I shook my head no,
I mouthed the words," I'm okay", and asked him to go.
Then a car pulled up, " I am saved", I sighed,
A well-dressed man in a suit approuched, making my fears fly.
The handsome stranger asked me if I was okay?
I nodded yes and he told the other man to go away,
The puzzled towtruck driver, shrugged, got into his truck, drove away with nothing more to say,
I got out of my car to thank Prince Charming for saving the day.
He sneered and hissed," Baby, you made the wrong choice!", as he slapped my face,
Judging by looks I had chosen right, but that would not alter the case.
I sadly realized that I was tomorrow's news, as I saw the gun, this was my swan's song,
I had judged a book by it's cover and now I would be dead wrong!

I have often said that people should not judge others by their looks. Looks are deceiving and like you have written here and be your last judgement. Good work ;

SC,

Terrifying: a lesson to not judge a book by its cover - well done. Glad it's fiction. I hope.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

SC,
"He looked like the dude that always beheaded the screaming chick!" What a great visual! and from then on the tone is firmly established, we think, until that quick twist, and the truth as it was is revelaed. Great lesson here but you have the talent not to drag down into preaching. A fine piece.

That will teach you never again to judge a book by its cover, huh? Wow what an imagination you have. Did I ever tell you the story of a young girl who was raped in the back seat of my car, in my driveway no less??????????????

Be always safe,
Karen

SC,

So much drama, I was with you all the way. The scariest part of this is it happens all the time. Another fantastic write.
