People thought that Mama was an Angel, she wore a halo well,
But Mama had a dark side that came from the bowels of Hell!
Mama perfected a special blend of tea,
Rat Poison, Liquid Potassium, Lipton, fresh mint and she served it with glee.
Mama's tea," Would do a body good!", that's what she exclaimed,
Of course, the poor soul that drank it, would never be the same.
Daddy was the first to die, after winning the lottery,
Mama always eased his nerves with a cup of special tea.
Mama was a looker, she could really turn heads,
No one ever crossed Mama, cause they suddenly turned up dead.
Mama became the caretaker of rich, old Uncle Jim,
Mama was his only heir, so she soon got rid of him.
Mama always warned me," Girl, keep a still tongue in your head!"
I always minded Mama, cause I didn't want to turn up dead.
Mama started getting older and men started to notice me,
Mama was always going to be the fairest in the land and that was how it would be.
Mama decided that it was time to get rid of me,
So she's holding a knife to my throat, while I drink my cup of special tea.
Oh my, I have a feeling this is a memoir and my heart aches for that little girl but one who has grown into one of the greatest women I know along with a very talented poetess. Love and hugs, Bonnie

You are quite effective at creating that spine-tingling, unnerving response! I literally felt a chill up the back of my neck with the last line. Creating an actual physical reaction with words - sounds like the mark of a pretty talented writer.

This is a bit scary. Very well written, but Mama certainly sounds like no angel. I'm impressed by the way you write so light-heartedly, than so dark. This is great.
