and turn to look hard into me
the stillness in your face,
the seriousness in your eyes
for that single moment
I get a glimpse into who you really are
overwhelmed by the depth found there
a soul as old and ageless as time.
You're still too young to have forgotten
and something I find in that fleeting look
says to me time and again
that you know him
you see him
he speaks to you.
You look at me
as if you'd give anything
to be able to comfort me
with the knowledge of what you remember
of your life before it became mine.
Well I want you to know
that your eyes say it all
that for the seven months I've known you
I've remembered heaven too.

my little girl, my little heroine
because in a time when
