A Mermaid's Call

by Amber "V" Moonstone 9/4/07

Mermaid calling with enchanting melodies,
playing her song without any keys,
Chants from the Sea that calm the night,
her words calling with melodic delight.

Enchantress from the sea,
Magical waves enraptured plea,
Calling to distract the sailing man
Is destruction your plan?

Such beauty and charm
Do you really mean to harm?
Heed the stellar advise
and avoid your demise.

Know that beauty of this Maiden,
is a path filled with tradin,
your soul for her enchantment
bringing an end to your encampment.

author's notes:
A sheep in wolf's clothing inspired this poem, and also La Belle's blog today, about people not being "real" friends.

Homer said it and warned us of the sirens, we should keep wax handy.
...and some people are trying to convert "friend" in a loathed four letter word.

You express much truth via your verses, Amber. Sad perhaps but true nonetheless. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Many a person has been fooled by the mermaid like lure. Many have fallen to the enchantment of their songs. They are always the masters of disguise with only one intent and purpose......to kill the heart.
A real friend is someone who will not let you walk out the front door with two differnt colored socks! This was a great read.
Thanks and best regards,
Chris

The lure of the mermaid siren is one as old as the ships that sail the seas. this poem is beautiful but a real reality check.

Beauty is not always real.
The ability to discern that which is real is a difficult task.

A 'captivating' poem

I love the subject of your poem and your handling of it. Your inspiration "sheep in wolf's clothing" paints a warning. We are all vulnerable and most have probably learned to listen with an underlying sensitivity--not to the spoken words, but to the motivation behind the words.

I must confess Amber I have not read La Belle's blog today but I will.
Your poem is well written and yes some come to us in sheep's clothing pretending to be someone that they are not. Real friends are hard to find, but I must confess in all good concience that I have not always been the best of friend myself. I have failed, let people down even here at AD to my shame, but the important thing is that we stive to do your best and change things we find in ourselves that we do not like.Excellent poem! Blessings, Holly

Amber they say no two people are alike and therefore we go through different lengths to get to know others and pray that each is acceptable for their ways. Thank you for sharing.

Amber, I liked the jest of this writing...no, I don't think a person ever really knows what goes on in another's mind...secrets many hold the key to may never be told to another. We just have to take each friendship a day at a time and hope we'll like the outcome. I liked this.
