My soul is coming undone,
I need some glue to fix it.
Can it be mended?
I am patiently waiting to see.
I was driving to work the other day,
and my sole of my shoe was coming undone.
I thought it to be ironic,
because my soul felt the same way!
I have tried to mend it with others,
they fall short to your love,
when I think I have glued it,
It just comes undone.
The sole of my shoe,
I shall glue that back too.
One day my soul will be
as secure as my repaired glued sole!
author's notes: Just a little poem that uses the same word but spelled differently with different meanings. Don't you just love the English Language!
Peace, Love, and Light, Amber "V" Moonstone
Interesting concept in this wonderfully playful poem. The heart as the picture shows, can so completely control ones emotions that it appears nothing is left in tact. I believe souls are immortal, one cannot mend what cannot be broken, even though it may feel so. Ones spirit, will, determination or even hope can be compromised, but the strength and light of love that soul projects comes from within. You obviously have a big heart and feel love most strongly, but I don't think they sell a good sole glue.
I love it and for those that this would be for, yes the soul as well as the sole can be mended with time, smiles and true love. Thanks Amber, great write.
Yes. The English language provides opportunities for writers and it's not just with homonyms such as "sole" and "sole." I can identify with the sentiments that you have expressed in this poem, Amber. Thank you. Love and peace to you,
Amber, a broken soul is mighty hard to repair sometimes and it may take it a long time to heal after it is broken but in time, a soul does heal. This is a nice writing.
very clever-and i too love the fun you can create with English!

Not only do I love the English language, I love this poem too. It is my hope that the glue you find is waterproof and will last forever. The wonderful thing about a warm, loving and tender soul is that it can be repaired.....

Very clever use of homophones, Amber! I have a passion for language – well… for languages :0) – and enjoy exploring all of those aspects which make it – them – so rich. The concept, here, is brilliant – soles and souls. Yes… don’t our souls feel like we’ve been walking “on them” for miles… and along paths so rough that they (souls) seem to be literally “falling apart”? Yet… I believe that, contrary to soles – which can be mended almost to perfection by others (who nonetheless need to know their trade so the job will be well done) but can also fall apart beyond redemption – souls can only be mended by ourselves from within. The good thing is that we all have the innate knowledge of this “craft”… and souls have this infinite self-regenerating attribute, that make them… and us… as good as new even after the longest, hardest, most exhausting “walks”. Enjoyed this poem very much!

I love the way you use the example of a shoes sole coming apart. In love it is said that souls cleave together and become one. Thus the word soul mate. You will feel that special vibration.
