UNWOUND


i have learned to unwind, more often
not because i wanted to be lazy but
because i’ve been forced to slow down
forced to view the usefulness of my life
in directions other than my profession
obligated to recognize the intrinsic value
of every moment of life god gives to me
i am relearning what i once embraced
the truth that love alone will bring to us
the greatest satisfaction and fulfillment
and to love we must take time to be loved
time to give love in ways large and small
occasion to know a woman inside and out
to cherish her virtues, kiss away her pain
so....would you like to take time to unwind
to walk a beach, lie together in a hammock
until crimson sunset becomes pink sunrise?
would you smell the wild roses with me?
