Perched at the top of the mountain
Placed up high to watch over man
He was set in just the right spot
To think of how he'd work God's plan

With no idea where his trail would lead
Or how long he'd be asked to stay
His spot was both high and open
From there he could see every way

His place was just above a lake
The perfect spot for his new home
For countless days and nights he'd sit
Content with a place all his own

These were the days of early man
Before the Indian hunters
His duty was simple at first
He sat and enjoyed the wonders

Then one day new settlers came 'round
They noticed the man perched up high
And made a firm kinship with him
Called him Old Stone Face in the sky

They all knew that he was special
Felt he had The Spirit within
If God had placed Old Stone Face there
He must be keeping track of their sin

And word soon traveled far and wide
About the Old Man who lived alone
Atop the mountain called Cannon
And why God chose it for his home

His presence was felt from below
A high power raining on down
The face etched as if in deep thought
Some swore they saw sweat on his brow

The Old Man was simply about love
Ask anyone who came to his place
Heavenly essence of peace and love
Radiated from his stone cold face
