Based on another Connie Winter's painting than the one posted here, but as I couldn't find that one online, I swapped it for another similiar painting of hers, "Shadows on the Vineyard Road."

Poem Artwork

if by chance summer's colors forget you

like the lost love of your life,

scattered heart petals let loose,

one at a time,

and you find your way back up

the garden path of love unconditional,

take heed of fair weather's warnings

rose refuse trampled on and left to curl and crunch,

yet what's to be expected

from this weakened nature, this fool's charade,

little puppet you danced, wound up and bound,

dangling from the strings pulled with true skill,

and your tears gathered there on a  branch's edge

dance, little puppet, dance,

among the far-flung fields,

green with the envy of the forgotten,

yet afire with the blooming of rainbows,

big and small, love's spirits joined hands,

wearing leafy crowns of this drifting reverie

and there,

love's foolish puppet,

you remained,

discussing the wind's fiery brush of fresh air,

blowing back the fall of the grey clouds

once more-

once more,

we ride bareback those very clouds,

once more,

we bow blushing for the poppy's red kiss,

tangled up two by two in the anchoring weeds,

we loves now tossed away and wavering,

on the tips of autumn's brittle grass

Wonderfully expressed, I actually get a lot of meanings from this one. The most personal for me is being tempted by the joyous feelings of love, we too soon forget the hurt it caused before.

esthetically effective portrayal of romantic stirrings not directly seen in the painting's essence ... nonetheless, you elegant poem maintains the theme of the painting quite nicely ...

"Transcendentalist-romance" - a blend of Thoreau and Byron. Lovely use of language.

Very fine work, sensitive interweaving of emotional visuals.
I particularly like
"green with the envy of the forgotten,
yet afire with the blooming of rainbows"
and
"once more,
we ride bareback those very clouds".

When you write of paintings you direct your words into the thoughts and caresses of the paintbrush of the artist. You see what he saw. You see him as he could not see himself. Stand. Clap. Clap. Take a bow.

OH this is GLORIOUS, Michelle!! My ultimate compliment: wish I'd penned this. Especially,

"and there,
love's foolish puppet,
you remained,
discussing the wind's fiery brush of fresh air,
blowing back the fall of the grey clouds
once more -
once more,
we rode bareback those very clouds ...."

Indeed. StormSpinner written all over these lines!!! Well done.
