As we take responsibility for our actions and thoughts we claim our personal power.
I was safe in my ignorance, or so I thought.
Others were responsible, not me.
I was free to blame or avoid responsibility,
For my focus was outside, and not within.
I could point at you, or he, or she, or them.
The finger seldom turned inward...at me.
Life is easy this way.
Easy to be a victim.
Easy to stifle inner growth.
Easy to deny my spirituality.
But reality has a way of sneaking up on me,
And holding up the mirror for me to see the truth.
I am in charge of my life.
My thoughts chart my course;
To the joyous abundance of serene waters,
Or, thundering destruction on the jagged rocks.
My choice.
Childhood ends when I part the curtain of illusion,
And accept responsibility for my life.
Scary?
Yes!
But the cramped confines of my self made cage
No longer serve me.
I yearn to spread my wings
And feel the glory of unbounded flight!
Our culture has taught us to believe in many ideas which aren't actually real. Exposing these illusions allows us to recover the power to live our lives according to our deepest desires.
