the Silence of Death

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

the Silence of Death
is this his last breath?

at 85
he is still alive

but barely breathin'
his heart is heavin'

he can't hardly walk
seldom does he talk

he just sit's there
in his wheel chair

and he stares
somewhere out theres

to old memories
to old histories

to what used to be's
that's all he sees

feed him his food
does that do any good

do what i should
do what i could

do what i can
try to understand

his last breath
the Silence of Death

i'll leave the rest
to pass GOD's Test

i did my best
so now i will rest

or maybe it was my worst
that be the Curse

outside there is thunder
and i wonder

there is the rain
there is the pain

of his last breath
there in the Silence of Death

Dad
just rest
you passed the test

but did i
give it my best try?

man to man

we take our stand
we both understand

eyeball to eyeball
that's all

with your last breath
did you hear
the Silence of Death

when eternity was near
was there fear

or were things clear

those memories
those histories
that you held so dear

with your last breath
was there only
the Silence of Death

were you lonely?

because it was me there only.

with your last breath
did you know
the Silence of Death?

did that silence grow?

tell me please
and don't tease

with your last breath
was there just The Silence of Death?

Hi Steve:

You must count the blessings for everyday that your Dad is with you. After he is gone, you won't have him forever, and I guarantee you that you won't feel the same for a long time.

He knows you are there to care for him, even though he's silent and can't say the words of thanks to you, but after he's gone, he will let you know how appreciative he is that you have taken care of him during his last days.

Be well, and take care.

((((( Lots of love and hugs )))))
