Watching the economy spiral out of control,

We look to point fingers and demand to know.

The news reports it’s the real estate demise,

Stemming from the loan and mortgage rise.

I believe it’s more than just that one seed,

We collectively turned need, into greed.

Now that the money has run out,

Investors are riddled in doubt.

Larger corporations cut costs due to the Wall Street gloom,

Causing the innocent to lose their jobs and their homes. 

Some have no choice but to file for bankruptcy,

While others do all they can to hold onto their family legacy.

Entrepreneurs watch their dreams slip away one by one,

Greed has attacked both the old and young.

Now we retreat to basic need,

Let’s hope we learn something from this, and refrain from future greed!
