It’s hard to slow down in a thriving town,

Spending your life constantly running around.

Sleeping only four hours a night,

Just isn’t right.

We abuse ourselves until we are weary and thin,

Adding years to the look of our skin.

We are not meant to be kept under an umbrella of stress,

I’m sure many are though if I had to take a guess.

When you take the time to rest and relax,

You learn just how much your body is taxed.

One must eat right, sleep properly, exercise, and hydrate

In order for the body to truly rejuvenate.

Take a break, and recharge for heavens sake.

For you don’t want to seal your fate, and arrive early to the gate!

Thank you for the poem. It is absolutely true, we must "take a break and recharge for heavens sake". The proof is in the doing of it.

These are good words! Our American culture has elevated busyness to god stature. It's time we ALL slow way down and enjoy life.

Peace,

Excellent advice. I don't know why I seem to always be in a hurry. I'M RETIRED! I don't have to be anywhere and any particular time any more. We ALL need to take time to 'smell the roses'.

You are so right with this one, all too often we get caught up in the speeding train of life and forget where our stop is to get off.
