When two people are so close, one can read the other even without words.

The call was a surprise,
"Why the sadness in your eyes?"

Across the miles you felt
Emotions I disguised.

How could you know me so?
Pretending not to know.

But you just asked again,
My heart's exposed by then.

As you hold my letter
With a picture I sent there,

Just a little photo-
You knew what my eyes show.

Why can't I lie to you?
You read me through and through.

You said when love began
Our two hearts became one.

That is the mystery
True love can feel and see.

Words of love and comfort-
Your mellow voice sent forth

The tears started flowing-
My sadness... disappearing.

That is the way true love ought to be, Cynthia. Would that it were so in all relationships. Thank you. Love and best wishes,

Cynthia,

This is so true. With true love, you can simply look at each other and know what the other is thinking. It's almost scary. Great write.

There is a bridge called "Sadness" over the "Forgetful" abyss that calls the the desperate souls to jump, but at other end of the bridge is a forest by the name of "Future Promises" which haven't been heard, yet.
A poem read twice, the second time? Between its lines.
